Bakkanosi
Do you also have Bakkanosi on your bucket list experience? Then you are not alone! Standing on Bakkanosi (1398 m above sea level) with Bakka and the fjord 1300/1400 meters below is a great nature experience. The trip from Jordalen to Bakkanosi and back usually takes 6 to 8 hours. So plan and start early enough.

Beautiful Slettedalen
If you are staying in Stalheim, you have an excellent starting point for a trip to Bakkanosi. From Stalheim, you drive to the schoolhouse in Jordalen in 15-20 minutes, where there is parking (for a fee) and here the mountain hike towards Bakkanosi begins. Make sure to bring a sturdy packed lunch and something to drink.
Direction guide
The first part of the trip you follow the tractor road that goes in curves up to the stables in Slettedalen. From the stables you then follow the path that goes along the river beyond Slettedalen until you start the climb up towards Slettedalstjærnet and further up towards Lyngsskaret. Here you get the first glimpse of the Nærøyfjord and the mighty mountains that rise on both sides of the fjord. You then start the last big climb up towards the ridge that leads outward towards Bakkanosi.
Then you follow the ridge with Nærøyfjorden on one side and Rimstigbotnen on the other side all the way to Bakkanosi.
